Online conversation (in Spanish) on “Buen Vivir of the Andean indigenous peoples and fashion” at the Aurora School (Catamarca, Argentina)
Buen Vivir of the native communities of the Andes can be synthesised as living in plenitude, knowing how to live in harmony with the cycles of Mother Earth, the cosmos, life and history, and in balance with all forms of existence in permanent respect.
Just as the original Andean nations have taught us and continue to teach us to live in harmony with nature, textile art has also been connected to nature since millennia. In this dialogue with authorities, teachers, students and graduates of the Aurora School (Catamarca, Argentina), we ask ourselves, what is weaving? What does a handloom mean? What does local mean and what value does it have? What is the importance of spirituality in indigenous textile crafts? What is understood by culture? Can fashion be related to indigenous textile art and how?
